Until now, the path to becoming president of Evangel’s Student Government Association (ESGA) and student body was limited to students who had served in ESGA Senate or Activities Board (AB). A newly passed amendment, pending final approval, has now changed that, allowing Student Ministries executives and university chaplains to run for the position. The Valor Scholars Program seeks to attract students who are not only the best and brightest but also those who demonstrate Christ-centered character. Valor Scholars exemplify three essential traits: curiosity, courage, and compassion. They exercise an open mind and diligent intellect to know God, are unapologetically Christ-centered in all they do, and have the capacity to care about what God cares about. The graph illustrates how a significant portion of Valor Scholars consistently choose Evangel University, reinforcing its appeal among students who value academic excellence and Christ-centered education. For the 2023-24 academic year, 82 out of 132 interviewees, or 62%, followed through after their interview and enrolled at Evangel. Similarly, in 2022-23, 98 out of 161 interviewees, equating to 61%, made the same choice. This demonstrates a consistent attendance rate of 60%.
Valor sophomore April Phillips was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet at the KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship after delivering an impressive showing across multiple events. She placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.29m, secured second place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.46m and earned another second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.65m. Several Valor athletes also received All-KCAC honors for their achievements. Evangel's national qualifiers compete in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Feb. 27.
