We are excited to provide you with the NOVEMBER issue of our BREPOLiS Newsletter, helping you to stay abreast of the continuous updates and improvements of our databases.

Sources Chrétiennes Online

The Sources Chrétiennes Online (SCO) database has been updated.

It now provides source texts and French translations from 570 of the over 630 printed volumes. Notable additions are the Life of Saint Bernard, Aphrahat’s Demonstrations, Evagrius Ponticus’ Tractatus ad Eulogium, and Caesarius of Arles’ Commentary on the Apocalypse.

By 2025, the SCO database will cover all volumes by then published in print in the long-running Sources Chrétiennes edition project.

Sample screen from Sources Chrétiennes Online (Gregorius Magnus, Moralia siue Expositio in Iob. Liber XIV), with the Latin text on the left, and the corresponding French translation on the right. The ‘Instrumenta‘ tool provides the user with suggestions of translation (drawn from the Lewis & Short and the Gaffiot) and morphological analysis in a pop-up, for the Latin words encountered in the texts of the database.
