Requirements: 120 credits total
Grace Theological College accepts a maximum of 90 transfer credits towards this degree.
The scholar MUST be ordained as professional clergy in order to be awarded this degree at GTC.
Required: The completion and submission of a 10-page project related to the ministry focus.
This is a religious degree in a Chaplaincy ministry. It does NOT lead to a secular state license in Counseling. It is expected that the graduate will choose employment in an existing ministry or a secular organization for a salary.
Core Program: 48 credits.
PAUSE: Levels 1, 2, 3. - 12 cr. (Must pass all levels)
Pastoral Counseling - 3 cr.
Interspiritual Counseling - 4 cr.
Adult Growth and Development - 4 cr.
Homiletics - 3 cr.
Intro. to Healthcare Chaplaincy - 1 cr.
Pastoral Ministry Offices (Weddings, Funerals, Remembrance Events, etc...) - 5 cr.
Spiritual Direction Level 1. - 4 cr.
World Religions - FEMA certificate - 4 cr.
Intro. to Diversity - FEMA certificate - 2 cr.
Disaster Chaplaincy / Clinical Practicum - 6 cr.
Transfer or completion of electives from three departments of the scholar's choice at GTS/GTC for a minimum of 120 credits if needed.
3. Ordination.
Those who are granted ordination from St. Grace Church have met the following minimum requirements.
- Have demonstrated evidence of answering a divine call
- Have observed for a period of at least two calendar years
- Have met or surpassed the qualifications for Human formation, Spiritual formation, Intellectual formation, and Pastoral formation.
- Have passed polity exams via a Sacred Activism-Social Justice presentation and oral defense
- Have passed background checks
- Have been interviewed and approved by at least two senior ordained professional clergy
- Have been interviewed and approved by a consecrated Bishop
- Have been recognized in a witnessed, formal ordination service involving an ordination charge and the laying on of hands by senior ordained professional clergy.
